I visit Woodhall Manor to provide wedding photography on a regular basis. This fantastic wedding venue based in the heart of the Suffolk countryside is truly an amazing place. It is the chosen location for many couples who travel from all over the world to be married within the wonderful grounds. As with most photographers, I endeavour to create a truly set of unique images for every couple I have the pleasure of photographing. Covering the same venue multiple times within the same year can make this task exceptionally difficult as it is all too easy to shoot to a template to minimise the stress load on an already incredibly stressful task.
Andrew and Jules are a lovely couple and I really wanted to impress them. They met me at one of Woodhall Manor’s wedding fairs and snapped up their wedding date well in advance. Over the last few months me and Jules have been in constant contact and I really felt like I have made a great friend. Even better Andrew & Jules too my advice and hired not only my good friend Toby from TSJ Films but also my friends Amelia from Hair by Amelia and Adam from Your Wedding Disco. With Trish and the team at Woodhall Manor, I knew the day was going to be great fun with so many great friends as suppliers.
In order to make a few things a little different, I decided to shot the entire getting ready section of the day with no flash. While I don’t use flash all the time, I have never attempted to shoot an entire section of the day with the flash turned off! Woodhall Manor has very dark interior, with small amounts of light creeping in through the glass of the small 18th century windows. Check out the results below; for me, this is one of the strongest set of pre wedding shots I’ve produced. I also went all out with Andrew & Jules’ portraits using multiple off camera flashes during the day as well as through the night.
Here are the results below. Be sure to check out TSJ Films for the trailer of the wedding which will be available at the bottom of this page when its ready!
