I prepared for the worst weather possible on my departure to The Old Rectory donning a full suit, waistcoat, winter shirt and tie. Sure enough, as soon as I arrived at the venue, it was raining heavily. A quick check of the forecast revealed, to my disappointment; the rain was setting in for the entire day. Running the risk of looking like a drowned rat, I gathered my equipment and set off to unload it into the marquee. Then to my surprise, the sun came out and it reached 27 degrees in less than an hour! That is some serious heat to be covering a wedding in. Times like this I wish I’d brought an assistant to carry some of the weight! Luckily for Jason & Frances – this was now perfect weather for a marquee wedding. I had simple instructions – not many details, not many groups, lots of natural shots – perfect!
The Old Rectory can be found in the small village of Campsea Ashe in the heart of Suffolk. Although own privately and mostly used as a B&B the owners have rented out the property for a selection of couples every year for marquee weddings in the extensive gardens of the property. Right next to St Peters church, it proves to be the perfect location for the wedding party and great for photos too! This is the last wedding held at The Old Rectory under its current owners. The property has now been sold; hopefully, the new owners will still continue to provide couples with this fantastic location.
