I was surprised to learn that Wherstead Park has only been a venue for weddings for less than 2 years. It’s a pretty amazing place, very deceiving from its outside appearance. As all who visit regularly will know, I love being at venues I’ve never shot before. I think most photographers feel very nervous about shooting in new locations when they know they are out of their comfort zone. It’s nerve-racking, but I love it, I always try to do something completely different for every couple and having new venues to photograph at forces you to think differently, more creatively and pushes you to think outside of the usual shots. This has always been much more than just my business to me, I want to stay on top of my game otherwise it just becomes a job. People are always amazed to hear that I still get butterflies as I drive to every shoot. It’s not because I feel unprepared, it, because I know what I have in my mind, is difficult to achieve and it’s a good sign that I care. I think the day that disappears will be the day to hand it over to someone else.
